Job Description

Plastex Fabricators is seeking a full-time permanent in-house Commercial Estimator / Cad Drafting Technician in our Charlotte, NC facility. The ideal candidate will perfrom take offs & design products for the Architectural Millwork, Retail Fixture, Store Décor, Environmental Graphics and Interior Signage industries. This position will ultimately lead into project management duties. This position requires the right person to work independently in a fast-paced work environment that has changing demands throughout the day. The candidate must be flexible and organized.


Major duties Include, but are limited to:
Providing timely take-offs and proposals on retail fixtures, millwork, casework, cabinetry, metal work, graphics and décor using AutoCAD 2D & 3D, Cabinet Vision, Acrobat & Microsoft Office Software.
Produce Shop Drawings and Renderings for submittal and production.
Communicate with Production, Fabrication, Shipping, Maintenance, Purchasing, Logistics, Administrative and Management Department divisions.
Develop relationships with architects and contractors to generate project opportunities.
Work independently with minimal direction from management.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent executive requests in a timely manner, performing in a fast-paced industrial / production environment.
Maintain all necessary files and reports.
Abide by all company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Associate Degree in Architectural Design or similar degree.
Minimum 5 years’ experience Estimating / AutoCAD Drafting in the millwork or fixture field to develop construction drawings for production.
Demonstrated proficiency in structural, mechanical, and electrical design, ability to quickly generate accurate, highly-detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision.
Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors.
Project Management experience is a definite plus.
Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, schedules, shop drawings, worksheets, records and other documentation to complete assigned tasks.
Use time wisely and remain productive.
Working Knowledge of SketchUp, MasterCAM, AlphaCAM, CasMate, EnRoute, FlexiSign or CorelDraw software is a definite plus.
Experience with CNC Routers is a definite plus.
Knowledge of advanced computer skills, PC based. Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Adobe Acrobat.
Working knowledge of cabinetry, casework and millwork fabrication techniques.
Working Knowledge of wood, wood products, solid surfaces, metals, plastics, coatings, and graphic board products fabrication and finishing.
Must be honest, dependable and have a great attendance history.
Must have a willingness to work as a team in a goal-oriented environment. Must have a strong work ethic & pay attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license & dependable transportation is required for this position.
This position requires an authorization to work within the United States.
Fluent in Spanish is a definite plus.
